Trolling Motor Mounting Bracket And Its Usage

By Gregory Hayes

If you have always been into fishing, then you need to know about motors. A Trolling Motor Mounting Bracket, why it is used as well as how it is used. It has both a controller as well as a propeller, because it is a motor that is electronic. This is a must-have if you are always on the move, trying to catch something in the water. It is placed on the stern of your boat and from there you can take the lead.

It is usually mounted on what is known a which is the surface that makes up the stern of the boat. The motor is often taken out of the water whilst the boat is in motion to decrease the momentum and speed of the boat for better fishing qualities. It gives the necessary boost needed for more accurate maneuvering of the boat. This makes it efficient for the angler to be more on point when throwing your bait.

This is an invention created by a O. G Schmidt in Fargo North Dakota. He made it by putting together a Ford Model and combining it with a shaft that is not rigid and propeller. He then named it The Minn Kota. A name derived from the area which his company was based in, which is near North Dakota border. The establishment is still in production of major components of this appliance.

Due to a advancements in technology, today s motors use a brushed DC electric motor. There is a range of 12 volt deep cycle batteries which were for marine use, and goes on to 24-36 volt batteries. It s components are connected in a water-resistant compartment which is at the end of the shaft. The propeller is then placed exactly on the propshaft.

There are three kinds of these, each with their own specific controls. They come in a foot, remote as well as handle control. The one you control by foot has a kind of pedal that is built within, it also helps you manage the speed. The one you control by hand comes with some kind of knob to help you control the speed. With the foot control one, the pedal is also the on or off switch.

There are benefits to the foot controller, because it allows you to have your hands to yourself for fishing. The only disadvantage is the struggle of hand and foot coordination especially in rough water and unstable weather conditions with lots of wind. Wireless control, which is available on the high end late models, has servo controlled speed and steering. These respond to a wire device on a foot pedal.

Another thing to consider when purchasing one of these, is the one that powers by gasoline. The real hiccup is the fact that it mostly relies on control of the hand. So if you don t want to constantly have to use your hands for something other than fishing, don t purchase it.

But the actual best is known as the bow mount. Normally used for medium to large boat, but it is very expensive. Reasons for it to be the best is the pull of the boat instead if the pushing. This creates a much more easier steering than the others. It s bigger, better and harder to install, but it has the best fishing experience you can ask for.
