Book you trip months ahead to take advantage of promotions by the airlines or the travel company. A weekend might not be enough to see another country. So once you have found an ideal schedule, file a leave with your company for you to take a few days off to enjoy your trip. That way, you are assured that your company can make arrangements to block off your schedule for your vacation.

By knowing your itinerary ahead of time, you will be able to check if your desired places to visit are included in the list. If they aren't, contract the travel agency to see if they can make adjustments to include them. It may be necessary for you to pay extra, cancel other itineraries or get the approval of the rest of the travel group. It wouldn't hurt to ask so take your chance to see your desired tourist spots.

The clothes that you will pack will have to depend on the weather, the activities and the culture in the destination. While it is great to pack lighter clothes, expect that it is better to have your skin covered during high noon. You may also have to follow dress codes when visiting some cultural and historical sites such as churches and temples.

Aside from enjoying the nature and the adventures, you may also learn more about the local culture and the people. Look for locals who will allow you to experience what they usually do for a living. Your guide may also take you to historical and cultural sites. Just make sure that you are aware of the proper decorum and clothes when you visit them.

As someone who is not used to the local food, exercise some caution when it comes to what you it. It is great to try local dishes, yet you have to make sure that you are not allergic to any of the ingredients. It will not hurt to ask what the dish is made off before you try it. Make sure that you also have your medications. You can also take your prescription with you and have it refilled at the destination.

When you sign up for the trip, inquire about your travel insurance. If this is not yet included, you may purchase this from the travel company. There are also insurance providers and even banks that offer travel insurance coverage in addition to your existing subscription. To keep your important belongings safe, store them in a smaller bag and carry it all the time. Make some copies and take note of your embassy's number and address.
