By Ronald Howard

A tropical vacation is something most of us who live in cold countries have on our bucket lists. And of course, if we have the time and the money we may want to go have a vacation near nature like a trip to Manuel Antonio National Park in Costa Rica. If you have a mind to travel to this tropical country, then do read on for some information, which may be useful when booking Manuel Antonio hotels for your needs.

As with any carefully planned decision or activity it will not hurt if you have some sort of decision making help such as in the form of a checklist. This very simple management tool will assist you in making all the necessary data checks and research needed. The following items should be included in your checklist.

First and foremost look at your budget first. Rich people and those loaded with cash will not even take a second look at this, but not everyone is rich and loaded. Put in mind that this Costa Rican escapade at the minimum can set you back USD 1,600 per head on accommodations alone, with a bit of touring and sightseeing. Double check if you can really part with this amount.

The national park of Manuel Antonio will have plenty for the nature lover, being traversed by plentiful hiking trails and viewing areas across an area of six hundred and eighty hectares. Be sure that you are up for many outdoor activities before going. It is also good to know that the park only opens from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm from the days of Tuesday to Sunday and there are visitor limits. The park only allows a maximum of 600 visitors on weekdays and 800 on weekends.

Amenities wise most of the hotels do give the most basic of traveler needs. The closest accommodations are only 3km from the park itself, numbering thirty seven, and you can choose from two star class accommodations all the way to four stars. Depending on the season and demand one can get rooms for as low as USD 56 and as high USD 1423 per night.

Take note also of your estimated duration of stay for this can affect your overall expense budget. Sometimes some hotels do give free nights stay depending on whether you spend a third consecutive night with them. Others also give special discounts to families and children. Do ask for special rates so you can extend or lessen your stay accordingly.

Depending on the season that you travel to Manuel Antonio, this will also affect rates for everything related to travel. The peak season months are the dry months of December to April, for this is a season for beach goers. The wet month of April to November are the off season months and this is probably the best time to go to a nature reserve like Manuel Antonio for it will be greener and more fresh.

And of course please remember that you will be traveling to a tropical country so do pack accordingly. Light clothes only and if possible cotton ones. Pack plenty of bug spray also and be prepared for a lot of sweating.
