Door-To-Door Transportation And Orlando Airport Shuttle

By Jason Davis

When it comes to airport transfers and transportation in Florida, there are several options. Most often, Disney and other lodging facilities will offer free or low cost Orlando airport shuttle service. For visitors desiring other modes of transportation, there is no shortage when it comes to taxis, town cars, Uber or Lyft drivers.

A town car is often a quiet, peaceful and luxurious way to travel between destinations for those traveling on an unlimited budget. Town cars have numerous benefits over other options. For example, individuals can often rent town cars for an hour, a few hours, a day, a week or sometimes longer.

While taxis at times are cheaper than town cars, there are some instances in which flat rates on town cars cost about the same. One reason being, that most town car drivers do not charge extra during rush hours or special events. Whereas, taxis, Uber and Lyft all have surge pricing during these periods. In some cases, individuals may be able to work out flat fees with these other drivers, though flat fees are still often comparable to that of town cars.

With companies like Uber and Lyft now available, others may want to opt for these services. While there have been issues with drivers and passengers, nothing has happened to driver or passengers of these two companies that has not happened to others driving or riding in taxis. Travelers need keep in mind that quoted rates often do not include rush hours or other periods in which surge pricing goes into effect.

Public transportation remains the least expensive mode of transportation in Orlando, Florida and elsewhere. Most people who use public transportation on a regular basis often save a lot of money by not having to drive or park. For those interested in public transportation, stop by a local visitor center to pick up maps, schedule and other information related to city transit systems.

SuperShuttle, probably the best known of all the United State shuttle services provides door-to-door service. There are lesser expensive shared shuttles like MCO which operate between the airport and several different hotel chains. Some hotels also offer free shuttle service depending on the distance between locations.

When it comes to MCO and other lower cost shuttle service, it is important to remember that it could take longer to reach a destination. For, unlike SuperShuttle which offers dedicated door-to-door service based on advance reservations, there are several stops on these other shuttles. While MCO and other low cost operators will provide service on a first come, first serve basis, reservation holders do come first.

One of the best options is to stay at hotels which offer either free or low cost shuttle service. When booking a vacation package through Disney, shuttle service is free of charge in Florida. Travelers can save a great deal of money by flying and taking a free shuttle to Disney World and other hotels instead of paying the high daily parking rates many hotels and resorts charge in the area.
