Grand Bend Accommodation In Ontario For A Great Lakes Holiday

By Ruthie Calderon

Grand Bend is one of those idyllic beach holiday destinations that are located along the Canadian shores of Lake Huron in Ontario. It's a summer hotspot in the Great Lakes region, attracting tens of thousands of visitors every summer from places as far away as New York, Florida and Texas. That's why it's best to look for and book Grand Bend accommodation as early as possible.

One of the key necessities for this kind of holiday is a good place to stay in a nice location. In this case, that means a large vacation rental or a luxury hotel offering a view of the lake. Needless to say, not everyone has the kind of budget that these high-end properties need.

However, that still leaves open a large collection of diverse lodging options. There are a huge number of rentals in the streets close to or even on Main Street. Many have partial lake views and are also easily accessible from the Bluewater Highway or Ontario Street, which basically depends on which way a traveler is driving into town from.

A whole bunch of inns, B&Bs, hotels and motels can be found lined up along Ontario St. As it nears the center of town. Some more are on the other side for those driving in using the Bluewater Hwy. All of these properties close to the town center are suitable for visitors who are staying for a few days and want to explore the entire area and all its attractions.

Speaking of attractions, one of the main things that draws people here is the Motorplex. The Grand Bend Motorplex hosts Canada's oldest and largest drag race, and it draws huge crowds too. People who are in town for this may want to find campsites, RV parks and budget lodging within easy reach.

Otherwise, the big draw for visitors is Lake Huron. People come here for the beach, and for fishing, watersports, boating, hiking and other waterfront activities. It would no doubt be nice to be able to find accommodations offering a view of the lake and easy access to the water.

For a large family or a group of friends, the ideal place would be a vacation rental close to the lakeshore. For example, a three-bedroom rental that can sleep up to eight people is typically the best option for families with kids. It has a lot more room than a hotel, all the comforts and amenities of home, and it's far cheaper than getting separate hotel rooms or a suite for parents and children.

Look for places that offer all the standard amenities including a fully equipped kitchen and parking spots for at least two vehicles. High-speed or Wi-Fi Internet is quite common, as are cable, DVD players, music systems, refrigerators, microwaves, etc. A pullout couch would be helpful for groups that need more than three bedrooms. Some properties also have cooks, maids, drivers and other help on call for guests who need them.

It's best to find and book a place like this at least 3-4 months ahead of time, especially for summer holiday trips. It's almost impossible to find quality accommodation still available in Grand Bend during the summer after driving in at the last minute. Having a good place to stay will make it possible to enjoy the pleasures of the holiday and the memories for a long time afterwards.
