Visitors Love The Shark Fishing Cape Cod Options On Offer

By Joanna Walsh

If wanting to go fishing it is always a good idea to be able to distinguish between the different species that one is bound to catch. It is also true when it comes to the shark fishing Cape Cod provides. Many say that this is the best place where one will be able to catch the monster shark, the Great White. The area around Hyannis Barnstable Massachusetts is one of the places where world record sizes concerning sharks can be caught.

It has been documented that there are more than four hundred and forty different species of shark in the oceans. They are then able to be further classified into eight different orders. Many of them range in sizes from rather big to quiet small. They are really quite fascinating creatures and many people would love the chance to be able to see them up close in their natural habitat.

This is a beautiful place and seems to protrude out into the Atlantic Ocean. It has beautiful beaches and because of its climate many find it a popular tourist destination. Two of the nearest islands are Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard and in order to reach them a ferry will need to be boarded at Hyannis Village.

One shark that does not seem to mind both cold and warm waters is the Mako Shark. Although many prefer to stay in the deeper parts of the ocean there are others that tend to stay closer to the shores. They might be small in size but this will not deter them if they come across a human in their territory and they are known to attack.

The Tiger Shark can reach lengths up to fourteen feet and weigh about eight hundred and fifty to one thousand four hundred pounds. They will eat anything that tends to move and are very curious. Their main hunting grounds are in shallow waters and close to the ocean's surface.

The main language is English but before that in 1642 they spoke Noepe. The movie directed by Steven Spielberg, Jaws was filmed on this Island mostly in the villages of Menemsha and Chilmark. All of the extras that were portrayed in the film where island natives. All the sequels to the movie were also filmed on this location and in 2005 the inhabitants celebrated the thirtieth anniversary with a week end Jaws fest.

The fifth most dangerous shark is thought to be the Shortfin Mako and can reach about ten feet and weight up to three hundred pounds. They are the fastest of all the sharks and this could be because of their torpedo shaped bodies. If they are provoked they will attack and when they are caught in fishing lines have managed to free themselves. Those that escape onboard the boat have been known to turn on their captors and bit if the opportunity presents itself.

There are numerous charters that will take people out to do some deep sea fishing. Many people are more interested in catching a variety of fish and not just shark. The most popular catches tend to be Tuna, Striped Bass, Bluefish as well as Cod and Haddock. Their boat are able to hold six people at a time and they take trips to many offshore waters but still all within the New England area.
